1995 F350 4x4 four door 7.3 powerstroke

I have a 1995 F350  Powerstroke 7.3

Sometimes it would take a few tries to start it in the mornings, unless it was already warmed up.

But the other morning, I came out to start it and it tried to fire, but then immediately died.

When I tried to start it again, there was no smoke from the tail pipe like it usually does before you get it started, and also the Rach did not move at all.

So I pulled the Cam positioning sensor and replaced it with a new one.

I then had the truck plugged in for the block heater for a couple of hours.

When I tried to start it, it still would only crank with no start.

And there was still no smoke from the tail pipe and the Rach still did not move.

I am totally lost.

I am out in the woods above Timber, Oregon, and I am on disability.

I am limited on hand tools and no shop.

I sure would appreciate knowing what to do next.

I am even checking around for a shop or something to fix or work on my truck and let me make payments.

Sounds like you not getting fuel, did you check the electric fuel pump.

I don't know if it has an electric fuel pump.

It does have a mechanical one behind the fuel bowl on top of motor in the valley.

Would it have more then one?

Also, a friend noticed some oil or fuel puddled in the valley under the fuel bowl.

He also thought there was possibly a crack or deformity in one of the fuel lines from the pump to the fuel bowl.

Is it possible to get a no start situation from that?

I'm am so in the dark about diesel motors.

This 1995 F350 is the first diesel truck I have ever owned.

So far from suggestions, I have replaced the fuel bowl filter and the 3 small lines from the fuel pickup pump to the fuel bowl, I also replaced the fuel bowl heater and the fuse.

I also replaced the CPS and the Glow Plug Relay.

I also had someone come out and ohm out my glow plugs and told me that I had one bad glow plug and the rest were good.

So I replaced all 4 on that side since I had the valve cover off.

The fuel bowl is full of clean diesel and the tach moves while cranking, but still wont start and still no smoke from the tailpipe.

Iam getting so frustrated from dumping parts into this truck.

It is a very nice truck inside and out and I always get compliments and offers to buy it, but I always said no because I love this truck.

But at this point, I am getting so frustrated that I feel like dismantling the whole truck and selling off the parts to buy a gas powered truck.

I am on a limited income since my wife and I are both disabled and cant afford to keep sinking more and more money into the truck with no results.

I wish I had a shop near me that could fix my truck and let me pay $200 a month to pay the bill, because that is what I can afford.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have an update on my truck.

I finally called my brother, at my wife's nagging me to call, and he told me how to check the high pressure oil pump.

He first told me to open the bolt on top of the HPOP and stick a pencil in the hole and see what the level is.

He said it should not be more then a half an inch from the top of the reservoir or it would not start.

So I checked and it was half empty.

So I filled it up and tried to start it like he said.

To my surprise, it started on the first try and ran great.

It now starts every time on the first try, even when cold in the morning without being plugged into the block heater.

He wants me to replace all the O-rings on my low pressure oil pump and my HPOP reservoir so I don't have bleed back to the pan.

I am so happy to have my truck back up and running again.

I have the same truck, same problem now.  I added this Adrenalin high output pump last year.  By the time I received it, it cost me $1200 CAD.  It took me 3 months to start my truck and keep it running in the summer after the rebuild.  I changed the crank sensor and it seemed to work good but on cold monrings it always takes 3 goes.  I have to hit the glow plugs 5 times, 3 times over, about 10 minutes.  There is no smoke on the 1st 2 tries.

I know I can get it to fire right away if I fill the HPOP reservoir with oil with a large seringe through the little pipe plug hole, but mine is stripped.

Before I replaced my factory HPOP, my truck would start in -40 F in the shade, no wind without being plugged in, and boy did it sound bad.

With this new pump my truck won't start below -22 F even if it is plugged in.  It doesn't seem to make a difference.  Still takes 8 minutes to get heat using the EBPV on a manual switch revving at 1,500 rpm.

I have 25,000 miles on this new pump now.  Over the past month my truck fails to move unless the water temperature is hot.  I get the code for - pressure is higher or lower than expected.  I went out the other morning she wasn't up to hot yet.  I decided to save fuel and shut her down for 20 minutes.  That was the end, just had it towed home today.  1 mile $110 CAD, I bought a CAA membership.  The other 20 tow trucks at Tim's wanted several $1,000's.

I'm pretty sure if I plug my truck in for 2 hours (the temp. is about 60 F now) my truck will start.  I bought a new Crank sensor from Ford $48 and just ordered the pig tail wire $45.  But that is not the problem.  After a day of cranking I have no high pressure oil.  For some reason this pump can't draw cold oil and create pressure.  If I could fill the HPOP reservoir it would probably start even quicker but I stripped my plug.  It could be possible that the oil pump in the oil pan is not puming enough oil but I never had any of these issues before I changed my HPOP pump.  And my truck usually starts ok, just acts up when there is a large temp. change or cliamte change like 15 F, freezing to rain.

If it turns out to be this pump I will through it in the garbbage with the low stall Diamond torque converter and deep ATS transmission pan I bought.  It's all garbbage.  And then buy the original Ford pump which is about $650 CAD from Rock Auto.  The oringinal torque conerter from Ford here is $660 CAD and I never had a problem with the old one, and I pulled 30,000 lbs. through mountains.  This Diamond cost me $1,200.  My code reader said it was slipping as soon as I put it in. Empty truck in bunny hills the transmission fails.  I have to pull over for 20 minutes and let it cool.  I don't pull anymore too much red tape.

The deep ATS pan which cost me $900 CAD, can't stop it from leaking.  Wasted 3 months and spent $500 bucks on various gaskets and goop.  Ended up putting my orinal pan back on.

That's what I discovered with my truck after the rebuild and changing the stock original HPOP pump with the Adrenalin high output HPOP.

I never had this problem before.  Why would the oil level drop in the oil reservoir?

I've driven this truck for 20 years and this problem just started whith this new pump.

In 2002 I bought two new Ford batteries from the Ford Truck center.  1,100 CA, 950 CCA $180 CAD each.  When my starter went in 2011 I burnt out one battery.  I bought a Subzero 850 CCA $169 CAD.  When I was trying to start my truck after the rebuild.  My new starter would roll for 20-25 minutes none stop.  My other Ford battery died 3 months ago so I bought a Costco Battery, 850 CCA $125 CAD.  Yesturday in 75 F, fully charged batteries my truck would only roll over for less than 4 minutes, I'm a little discusted...
