How many biodiese miles did your friend do. I do know that only problem BD can do is clean out and thus clog filter. (isn't there only 1 fuel filter?)
Does the revs register when it dry cranks, if not then it's most likely the cps, $30 from Autozone, 10 minutes, #10 socket.
