7.3L Gas Engine - 6.7L Diesel Engine Service

Ford 7.3L V8 Gas Engine:

Type: This engine is a naturally aspirated gasoline engine.

Features: Known for its durability and robustness, the 7.3L V8 is part of Ford's latest generation of V8 gas engines. It is designed for high performance and reliability in demanding commercial applications.

Power Output: It delivers a substantial power output, suitable for a wide range of heavy-duty applications.

Fuel Efficiency: While exact figures vary based on usage, this engine balances power with relatively efficient fuel consumption for a gas engine of its size.

Maintenance: Regular maintenance includes standard practices like oil changes, filter replacements, and spark plug maintenance. It's crucial to adhere to the recommended service intervals.

Ford 7.3L Gas Engine Problems

Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel Engine

Engine Model Specifics:

Type: The Power Stroke® in these trucks is typically a 6.7-liter V8 Turbo Diesel engine.

Performance: Known for its robust performance, the 6.7L Power Stroke® is engineered for high torque output, essential for heavy-duty towing and hauling tasks.

Technology: This engine incorporates advanced diesel technology, including high-pressure common-rail fuel injection and a variable-geometry turbocharger, enhancing both performance and efficiency.

Power and Efficiency:

Torque and Horsepower: It offers impressive torque at lower RPMs, which is critical for heavy-duty applications, and maintains substantial horsepower.

Fuel Efficiency: The engine's design and turbocharging lead to improved fuel economy, especially under load, compared to older or less advanced diesel engines.

Power Stroke Maintenance:

Oil Changes: Regular oil changes are crucial. Use oil and filters that meet or exceed Ford’s specifications for the 6.7L Power Stroke®. The oil change interval can vary based on usage, but adherence to Ford's recommended intervals is key.

Fuel System: Regularly inspect the fuel system, including the fuel filters. Clean fuel is vital for the high-pressure fuel system's longevity. Replacement intervals for fuel filters should align with Ford's guidelines.

Cooling System: Check the coolant levels and quality regularly. The cooling system plays a vital role in maintaining engine temperature, especially under heavy loads.

Air Filtration: Regularly inspect and replace the air filter as needed. A clean air filter is essential for optimal engine performance and longevity.

Emission System: Pay special attention to the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) levels. The emission system requires periodic regeneration cycles; understanding this process is important for optimal engine operation.

Turbocharger: Inspect the turbocharger system periodically for any signs of wear or damage, particularly in high-stress operating conditions.

Power Stroke General Care and Handling:

Cold Weather Operations: In colder climates, it’s important to use the correct grade of diesel and consider engine block heaters to assist with cold starts.

Engine Idling: Extended idling should be avoided when possible to maintain engine health and efficiency.

Power Stroke Professional Inspection and Services:

Regular professional inspections are recommended, particularly for components like the turbocharger, fuel injection system, and emission controls. Our Certified technicians can identify issues that may not be immediately apparent to operators, and can save you thousands by catching issues before more damage occurs.

Commercial and Fleet Repair and Maintenance Services

Many commercial truck and fleet owners ignore or postpone simple vehicle maintenance procedures because taking your trucks to a service center eats up man-hours. Someone has to drop it off, someone has to pick that person up, and they both have to take more time to go back to retrieve the vehicle. The problem with that thinking is you end up worse off because it costs you even more time and man-hours when you postpone or ignore scheduled maintenance because of vehicle breakdowns that routinely leave your commercial driver sitting on the side of the road, waiting for a tow truck and losing the vehicle for a much longer period time while the vehicle is in for repair for a problem that could have been prevented.

Garrett Auto & Truck Repair Service Performs all types of repairs on truck boxes from one panel to a complete roof or rear door frame. We also sell Whiting & Todco roll up door parts
